We warmly invite you to participate in the international scientific conference “The Future of Private Law: Codification and Its Alternatives”, which will take place on June 6-7, 2025, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Transformation of Private Law under the “Excellence Initiative – Jagiellonian University” program.
With the re-establishment of the Civil Law Codification Commission in March 2024, an intensive discussion on the revision of the Polish Civil Code has begun. Expert teams are gradually being appointed, and in light of ongoing legislative work, the need for research on innovative regulatory solutions developed in other legal systems has become increasingly evident. The question of codification’s significance and the possibility of distinguishing a legal branch known as private law in the 21st century is now more relevant than ever.
The conference aims to foster discussion on the latest transformations in private law. Distinguished speakers from China, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Ukraine, and Italy will analyze current legislative trends, presenting contemporary codification and de-codification tendencies as well as the risks and opportunities associated with applying innovative regulatory frameworks in private law. These challenges arise particularly where technological advancements or shifts in regulatory objectives render traditional private law institutions ineffective or redefine their functions.
